Play Some Johnson Boys Songs!
|
Four brothers, Buck, Duke, Russell and Clem Johnson, from the village of Ashes, Vermont, have reunited to form a band. They call themselves the Johnson Boys. Their first full-length CD, entitled The Fruits Of Intemperance, captures 14 of their (over) 70 songs to date. A hearty blend of Americana alternative and old time honky tonk, the CD was recorded over two days in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, by engineer Jim Tierney (known for his work with the Queers, on Lookout Records, and Slaid Cleaves, on Rounder/Philo Records). They are now working on their second CD, Gone to Seed, for Natural Disaster, recording material with acclaimed musician/producer T-Bone Wolk. The Johnson Boys have won the hearts of bands like NRBQ who have invited the brothers to open shows with their bitter and sweet foot- stompin' tunes. |

Johnson Boys
The Fruits of Intemperance
"Their rowdy, heartfelt music is permanently installed in our CD changer...like a honky tonk bar band wrapped up in Rimbaud..."
-- Bill Craig, Valley News
