The Rotating Leslies

Smoothly blending elements of trip-hop, techno and world-beat, The Rotating Leslies occupy a pocket of sonic space that is driven by 70's funk-inflected basslines, tribal rhythms, and iced with ethereal mid-eastern edged guitar, and smooth, atmospheric male/female co-vocals. Led by Jeff Dood since the band's official inception as a 3-piece in '97, the sound has evolved through the contributions of various members, yet has always maintained its hypnotic-erotic vibe. Currently a 5-piece, they often involve a different guest percussionist at each live show as they fill dance floors with their ambient groove.

heir debut CD "Equipoise," has received some great press and was included several best of '99 lists. It has had one of it's songs included in "American Desi," (an indie film soon to be released internationally) and has songs licensed for use on Oxygen Network. The strength of the CD has helped the band gain a good presence on the web, receiving airplay on numerous webstations and having tracks chart in the top 10 on MP3.com.

Although the music sparkles in recorded form, it is their live shows that must be experienced to gain full appreciation of their sound and why they have been steadily growing in popularity in their region.
