SkyPaint a Pop Opera

SkyPaint: A PopOpera is a musical story concerning one manĂ???-s alienation and confusion in a rapidly transforming world that is finding humanity merging with technology. The CD, which can be purchased at www.skypaintmusic.com , was produced and written by Russell Chudnofsky, who lends his guitar, vocal, and keyboard playing talents to a multitude of acts including: Jake Brennan and The Confidence Men, Amelia White, Jason Hatfield, and in the past with Lucky 57, Brulee, and Eileen Rose, among others. Recorded over a 2 year period with such skilled engineers as Brian Brown (Juliana Hatfield), Erin Taylor, Matthew Ellard (Tanya Donnely) and Chris Lannon, the CD also features Sarah Borges of the group Kipper Tin on vocals, Phil Aiken on keys (Buffalo Tom, Delta Clutch, the Bathing Beauties, Crown Victoria), Phil Magnifico on bass (Lucky 57), and Steve Scully on drums (Juliana Hatfield, Francine, Jack Drag). The live show, scheduled for its premiere on Saturday, November 9 at The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, will feature the same performers, with the addition of Rob Dulaney (Jake Brennan and the Confidence Men, Miltown) taking over on the drums.

The music has been described best as "campfire songs for the new millennium" a hodgepodge of rootsy organic sounds mixed with sci-fi sounding synth and percussion loops that symbolize the storyĂ???-s theme of the merging of humanity with technology. Slide guitars and banjos mix with electronic drums and bubbling synth noise. Listeners will be reminded of Beck and the Flaming Lips, but the listening experience is a truly individual one.
